On 26 May 2026, the Ghana High Commission in London, working with the Ghana Football Association, Coach Hene Sports Club, and Prince Lamona Consulting, held a Parents’ Engagement Session focused on developing pathways for UK-based Ghanaian footballers aged between U15 and U20.
The initiative was described by the High Commissioner, Sabah Zita Benson, as a holistic programme aimed not only at football development but also at strengthening identity, discipline, and emotional intelligence among young players.
She also announced plans for a Youth Day celebration scheduled for September 2026.
The session, which featured support from Kurt Okraku and FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McLaren, provided guidance to families on scouting processes, dual nationality considerations, safeguarding, and balancing education with sporting commitments.
Former Ghana international Michael Essien contributed insights on player development and the responsibilities of representing the national team, while a personal testimony from the mother of England-based forward Antoine Semenyo highlighted the importance of family support and national identity within the diaspora.
Organisers say the session is part of broader efforts to deepen engagement between Ghana and young football talent in the United Kingdom.
